Six weeks to bring shoppers into furniture showrooms

A furniture chain wanted people in its showrooms, not only on its website. For six weeks we showed display ads to people who had visited competing furniture stores nearby, and counted the store visits.

01

The brief

The chain wanted more people in its stores and showrooms. Website traffic alone was not the goal.

02

What ran

A six-week GPS retargeting campaign, aimed at people who had visited competitors’ brick-and-mortar stores in the same area.

  • Set a six-week window and identified 12 stores to target.
  • Worked with the client to choose the target areas.
  • Ran a GPS retargeting campaign that served display ads to people who had visited competitors’ brick-and-mortar stores in those areas.
  • Counted store visits.
To do this, we needed not just visitors to the website, but a digital solution to drive in-person store visits.
From our original write-up
03

How it was counted

The write-up lists 163 store visits and a geo lift of 53.43% for the six-week campaign. As with the other location campaigns, it gives the geo lift figure without the formula, so it is shown as published.

The same brief, now

If we ran it today

Start my CTV plan
  1. Six weeks was enough to count store visits from location-targeted ads. It would be short for Connected TV, which needs a runway: lift is fair to talk about in month 3, not week 6.
  2. So today we would plan ninety days, with the commercial shown to households in the zip codes around each showroom, and measure site and store activity against a baseline.
  3. People look a store up before they drive to it, so the search ads, SEO and website behind the commercial have to be ready.
