Local Service Ads: pay for leads, not clicks, at the top of Google.
Local Service Ads are Google's ads for local service businesses. They sit above everything else on the page, carry a Google Guaranteed or Google Screened badge, and charge for a lead rather than a click. We set them up, get you through Google's screening and manage them, so the leads you pay for are real jobs.
- The top of the page. Above the search ads and the map, for searches like "plumber near me".
- Pay per lead. You are charged for a call, message or booking request, not for a click.
- Google's badge. Earned through Google's screening and shown next to your name.
Google's own ads for local trades
When someone searches for a local service, Google can show a row of Local Service Ads before anything else: the business name, its rating, its hours and a badge that says Google has screened it. A tap calls or messages the business directly.
Before they can run, Google screens the business. Depending on the trade and the area, that can include background checks and proof of license and insurance. Home-service trades usually earn the Google Guaranteed badge, and many professional services the Google Screened badge. The ads cover many trades, though not every kind of business or every area.
Where you appear among them is not decided by budget alone. Google weighs how close you are to the person searching, your review score and how many reviews you have, how quickly you respond to calls and messages, your business hours and any serious complaints.

Answer the phone, and the ranking follows
Because Google ranks Local Service Ads partly on how quickly a business responds, a missed call costs twice: the job, and some of your place in the ads. An AI receptionist that answers every call and text, day and night, closes that gap.
Local Service Ads and Google search ads also run well side by side: Local Service Ads for the calls, search ads for the services and areas Local Service Ads do not cover.

Questions people ask
What people want to know before they start, answered the way we would answer on a call.
What is the difference between Local Service Ads and Google Ads?
Both are Google, but they work differently. Local Service Ads sit at the very top, show a screening badge and charge per lead. Search ads appear below them, charge per click and can be used by almost any business. Running both is common for service businesses.
What is Google Guaranteed?
A badge Google shows on Local Service Ads for businesses that pass its screening, which for most home-service trades includes background and license checks. Google backs eligible jobs booked through the ads with its own guarantee, under terms Google sets.
Is my business eligible?
Local Service Ads cover many home-service trades and some professional services, but not every kind of business or every area. We check yours before anything is set up.
What if a lead is not a real job?
Google has rules for leads that should not be charged, such as a call about a service you do not offer. We review every lead and pursue credit wherever those rules allow it.
How much does it cost?
You set a weekly budget and pay per lead. What a lead costs depends on your trade and your area, so we look at both before recommending a budget.
